Out of the Blue - Tour Dates

People in Forth Valley recovering from mental health problems were recently urged to pick up a paintbrush or pen, and express their feelings through artwork. The finished products were then to be selected to appear in a mixed-media exhibition “Out of the Blue” which charts mental health recovery in words and pictures. It will tour Forth Valley from April l0th 2008.

One in four people from all age groups will experience mental health problems. The idea of the exhibition is to describe aspects of recovery in poetry, prose, painting, song lyrics, drawing, film or photography, including images of craft work, ceramics or sculpture.

NHS Forth Valley Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Robert Clafferty has said: “Written word and visual images are powerful ways of highlighting mental health recovery approaches. They can challenge the stigma associated with mental health problems. Recovery is a personal journey involving the development of hope, security, supportive relationships, social inclusion and empowerment.”

All exhibition and anthology pieces will be anonymous to protect privacy but if you should see the Exhibition take time to look at the exhibits chosen.
